ok wait. what do u think about debates? Many perceive debates as a total waste of time, its just like paying lip sevice, talking won't get you anywhere. I beg to differ.

Let's take a step back and think. What are actually debaters? Debaters are actually mostly lawyers, philosophers, politicians, etc. To some extent, teachers and teenagers can be also viewed as debaters. So what would the world be without debaters.  No lawyers, no philosophers, no politicans. There were be no rules, no explanations for natural phenomenons and no law at all.

Let me give you an example: Mr Obama. He can also be viewed as a debater. We do not know whether he will perform and deliever his promise, but his inspirational speeches and engaging debates with John McCain over many domestic issues has unwittingly brought a sliver of hope in the hearts of the Americans, and possiblyy the world.  what more in this economic depression, his optimism, his debating skills are neccesary to lead us out of this crisis.

At the end of the day, this is my opinion of debaters, and I hope I can change your opinions on debaters.  If I cannot change your opinion, that will be a pity because debaters are all around us. Maybe your nearest debater could be the man slacking on the couch, watching the television  in your living room, the woman who irons your clothes at home, or the boy sitting next to you in class. Let's debate.  (Please go to blog I created for debates.)

LOL. Im not scared of you, neither am I better than you. All men are born equal, i don't want to quarrel, I don't want to lose a friend.  It's just that you got conned by your supposed "best friend".  I tried to help you, you wouldn't listen and reprimanded for no apparent reason, I quit.

Moving on... Today we had the Bukit Panjang Government High School Exchange programme and it was the like the best day ever. Ever. We were rowing and suddenly the trainer asked us to stop halfway in the middle of the Kallang (Lake?) A nod from his head indicated that the fun had begun.
6 minutes later, I was drenched, with water from what was supposed to be a "bailing water pail
" all over me, thrown by the instructor.  I plotted my revenge as I took Xian Da's water bottle.

"You still want to play is it?" The trainer smirked in between his splashing of water on me. I was miserably soaked. AAAAAAA.  Soon, I was a sight to behold. As he headed back, I emptied half the bottle on his back and laughed.

The water apparently had not dried up when we reached the shore. My socks were wet and I totally hate wet socks. Aaa.. So after photo taking, I got a murderous glare from the instructor as he turned his water-socked head at me.

LOL.

While I was listening to Philmann, who happens to be seating two seats away, blabber, I had an idea. Why not do an analysis on this two words that we take for granted?

LOL: Laugh Out Loud. This word is probably the most used word in online chats or normal conversations. It is used to imply a sign of amusement and exaggerated laughter.  It is also often mixed with other words, like lolcats.

ROFL/ROFLMAO: Rolling On the Floor Laughing/Rolling On the Floor, Laughing My Ass Off. Often used in online chats and normal conversations. It is also used to insult the Chinese Communist leader, Mao Ze Dong, as people often say," ROFL Mao Ze Dong".  It is often mixed with other words like: LMAO, SOIFMAO.

Warning: Do not try this at home. Yourr parents or teachers would misinterpret your words as vulgarities and give you a tight slap. DO not Worry about Philmann. Worry about YOURSELF.

I am going to talk about the relevance of the story "The lottery" to today's world. You can read it here.

What can we learn from this story? ( How is it relevant to our society today? Do we have our own form of 'lottery' as in the story?)

1) What can we learn from this story?
We can learn that life is unfair, and there are many people out there who only care about personal gain and want to watch you suffer.

In this corporate world, where big fish eat small fish, almost everybody is self-centered. They will stab your back and frame you.

One example is when John kills or hurts Tom. It is the simple principle of A hurt B. In society, when we gossip, murder or perform any type of crime, we are re-enacting "The lottery".
