Friendship lives forever
but intelligence, never
what you do is what you get
in this cruel and brutal world
They laugh and tease you,

Let's start with Charlie Gordon,
a retarded man like you...

Charlie stuttered
His heart fluttered
As his journey started
His grammar, spelling and punctuation was poor,
His imagination was poor,
I couldn't think of a thing
That could make his mind go "ting!"
He was a nice guy
pity he was retarded
one day he went for an operation
that would change his life forever
Then he met a lab rat,
one called Algernon,
it had to solve mazes to be able to eat
which he found pitiful.
As life progressed,
he became in distress,
his friends slipped away,
as he went awry
He wanted to become smart
to prove to his friends he was smart
instead he lost all his friends,
not even one remained.
He met a woman,
Miss Kinnian, who was his tutor
Blossoms developed
As they promised to live together forever.
However, good or bad things don't last forever,
His intelligence neither
His intelligence slipped away,
with his memory and love forever.
He realized many things though
His friends were not real friends
They were bullying him,
till he became smarter
Technology was a fascinating subject,
he realized he was a lab rat,
it was like being kept in cage,
not knowing what would happen to you next.
As Algernon died one day,
Charlie realized that would happen to him too.
The experiment was evidently a failure,
and Charlie was becoming one too.
As he laid retarded and ill,
he reflected what had happened to him,
He got his friends back,
But he always remembered his real friend: Algernon.
